Hyypia warns of domestic complacency

Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has warned his teammates that although the Reds go marching on in Europe, not all is tied up in the Premier League yet.

The Reds’ 1-0 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton last weekend went a long way to boosting their chances of finishing fourth in the league, securing an important and lucrative Champions League qualification spot. Rafa Benitez’s team are now five points ahead of the Toffees, with six games of the season to go.

But ahead of their Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow lunchtime, Hyypia, who has been in rich form this season, has reminded the team that the fourth spot is not Liverpool’s yet and they must continue to go for the points in the league to finish ahead of David Moyes’ side.

He says, “It’s not over until May 11. We need to make sure we get enough points to be in that fourth spot then.

“Now we have Arsenal again next. They are a brilliant team at keeping the ball and passing it. They have great movement and are very dangerous, but I think we have enough quality in our team to be confident of containing them again.”
