International Reds get call-ups

Spanish, Dutch and Argentine Liverpool players have this weekend recieved good news with call-ups to their country’s squads for forthcoming international games.

Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres (pictured), Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa make Spain’s 23-man provisional squad for Euro 2008 which kicks off on 7 June.

Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt made Marco van Basten’s Dutch provisional squad. The Holland team will go through a training camp in Noordwijk before the tournament begins.

And Emiliano Insua and Sebastian Leto have both been called up to Argentina’s under-23 squad to play Catalonia in a friendly in Barcelona on May 24th. Both will be hoping to impress enough to get a call-up to Argentina’s Olympic Games squad in August.

Meanwhile Steven Gerrard, Peter Crouch and Scott Carson could be involved in England’s friendly against the USA at Wembley Stadium on May 28th.
