Next Up: Manchester City (H)

In the final home game of the season, Liverpool face Manchester City in what looks to be manager Sven Goran Eriksson’s last away game in charge for the Blues.

Defeat at Stamford Bridge in midweek may mean Rafael Benitez does not go shy on naming his top players as Liverpool find themselves playing for nothing but pride, having already secured fourth place in the Premier League. However, he may use it as a chance to give some youngsters a chance such as left back Emiliano Insua.

If selected, John Arne Riise could well be bidding farewell to Anfield with a move away highly likely this summer, the same could also be said for Xabi Alonso whom speculation surrounds his Reds’ future.

For the visitors, fans have suggested they will be protesting at their owner – and one-time bidder for LFC – Thaksin Shinawatra’s plans to sack Erikkson after one season in charge.

Ex-Red Didi Hamann will return to Anfield and receive a warm reception from the Anfield crowd. He could line up alongside a supposed target of Benitez’s – Michael Johnson – in midfield.

Kick off is 4pm on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
