Hicks rules out Torres sale

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has rubished speculation linking star striker Fernando Torres with a summer move to Chelsea.

Reports recently suggest that new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is preparing to table a £40million bid for the Spanish international striker in an attempt to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

But Hicks says that Torres, who scored 33 goals for Liverpool last season, is priceless and no amount of money put forward for him this season would see him leave Anfield.

Hicks told the Liverpool Echo, “There is no price at which we would consider selling Fernando Torres. The Chelsea rumours in the media are total rubbish.”

Meanwhile, Torres is expected to be rested for his country’s final group game of Euro 2008 tomorrow night against Greece, with the Spaniards having already qualified for the competition’s quarter-finals as Group C winners.
