Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has praised the workrate of Steven Gerrard in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Hull City in the Premier League.
The Reds found themselves trailing 2-0 to Phil Brown’s men, before captain Gerrard pulled back two goals to equalise before half time and Benayoun, who has recently broken back into the first team, hailed him as one of the world’s best midfielders.
He said, “We know how important the captain is to the team in every game, not just in this one.
“He showed a lot of character again and when he pushes forward he takes the rest of the team with him. This is why he is one of the best midfielders in the world.
“We were all grateful for the goals he scored against Hull because they got us back into the game.”
