Masch admits under-par form

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano says he knows he isn’t producing his best performances at the moment, but is trying everything possible to improve.

The Argentine international has come under fire recently, along with several other Reds players, for mediocre performances, resulting in four straight disappointing draws for Rafa Benitez’s men.

But Mascherano has told the official LFC Magazine he has to improve.

“I know I have not played like my old self this season. I can do much better.”

“Why is that? I ask myself this all the time. I think maybe because it has been a long season already for me and that maybe my confidence is not as full as it was last season.”

“The Olympics have definitely had an effect on my form and my ability this season.”

“I should be playing better for Liverpool than I am at the moment. But I want to promise people one thing: I am trying every day in training and in games to get back to my best performances.”
