Torres looks for Derby goals

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has revealed his hopes to bag more goals in Monday’s Merseyside Derby against Everton at Anfield.

The Reds take on the Blues twice in the space of one week, after the teams were drawn together in the F.A. Cup fourth round draw.

Torres, who is no stranger to Derby games having played for Athletico Madrid against their local rivals Real in Spain’s La Liga, has already scored three times against the Toffees since his move to Anfield in the summer of 2007.

The Reds striker, who’s still unsure he will be fit enough to start Monday’s Premier League clash after recently recovering from injury, says, “Derbies are always tense but the last one brings back very good memories for me.

“If you can score a goal against Everton in the derby it makes the fans really happy. You can feel the excitement of the fans the day before the game.

“Before the last one against Everton I had people coming up to me telling me ‘you have to win, you have to win’ and ‘you have to score’.

“I had never scored a goal in a derby game before I came to this country, so to get three in two games against Everton and to win both of them is fantastic.

“I hope to play against Everton again this time and I hope to be able to score again.”

Liverpool vs Everton kicks off at 8pm on Monday, 19th January. The teams meet again, in the F.A. Cup, on Sunday, 25th January at 4pm.
