“Liverpool Football Club have reached agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the sale of Robbie Keane.”

As we all wake up with a smile on our faces following the dramatic late win over Chelsea yesterday, our attention turns to the transfer window and it’s 5pm deadline.

One man remains the centre of attention, with Robbie Keane‘s return to Spurs either definitely on, maybe on or definitely not happening depending what you read or watch.

Rafa Benitez still thinks Robbie will be a Liverpool player come Tuesday morning, speaking after the match yesterday he said “I think Robbie Keane will be here when the transfer window shuts. I haven’t seen any new offers. I don’t know if the club have had any offers.”

But most media sources claim a £15m deal is likely to go through today, with winger Aaron Lennon wanted as part of the deal for Liverpool.

Keane arrived at Anfield for £19m (not £20.3m like the press keep trying to tell you, that’s the more glamorous number which could have been achieved from £1.3m in potential bonusses) so a loss of £4m would see him back at White Hart Lane.

Most reports suggest Keane is only likely to be allowed to leave if Lennon arrives as part of the deal. While it is claimed Spurs are also willing to allow David Bentley or Gareth Bale leave.

KEANE UPDATES:

10am: Sky Sports News are reporting Spurs have increased their bid for Keane as they look to bring their former striker back to White Hart Lane.

12pm: This Is Anfield understand a deal has now be agreed and Keane will complete his move to Spurs today.

1:30pm: Liverpool FC have confirmed they have given permission for Keane to undergo a medical at Spurs this afternoon. LFC claim the terms with Spurs are yet to be finalised though.

4pm: BBC Sport claims a cash-only offer in the region of £15m has been agreed.

4:30pm: Harry Redknapp tells Sky Sports News; “I am absolutely thrilled and delighted that Robbie Keane is back at Tottenham once again. He is a terrific player. He can make all the difference.”

If Keane is to leave, Liverpool will be left rather short up front, with only Dirk Kuyt as established forward cover for Fernando Torres. Rumours range from Andriy Voronin returning from his loan spell to the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen and Javier Saviola arriving on loan until the end of the season.

HyypiaMeanwhile, Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear claims Liverpool turned down his approach for veteran defender Sami Hyypia. The big Finn has also been linked with North East neighbours Sunderland, although they have just signed Tal Ben Haim and already have Anton Ferdinand so are unlikely to pursue Hyypia. Reports over the weekend suggest Hyypia will again be omitted from Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the knockout stages despite impressing over the festive period and Philipp Degen failing to make a league start since his move last summer.

Elsewhere, former Liverpool target Ricardo Quaresma is set to join Spurs on loan from Inter Milan. His arrival at Spurs heightens claims Lennon could move to Anfield as part of the Keane deal.

Youngsters Peter Gulasci and Adam Hammill have joined Hereford and Barnsley respectively.

If anything happens, it will be in our Rumour Mill.
