Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez insists the club are going in the right direction, and his imminent 100th win as Reds boss proves that.
Victory over arch rivals Manchester United this weekend will be Benitez’s 100th win for the club in 181 games and will make him the third fastest Reds manager of all time to achieve that record. Only Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish beat that record.
Benitez told press, “I was not aware of this statistic but it does prove that the club is going in the right direction,” said Benitez.
“You cannot sustain a statistic like this unless you have good players, so it is a great credit to the squad.
“If we win at Old Trafford it would be good for the statistics but the statistic which matters most is the points that you have in the league table. We want more than we have right now ‘“ this is the most important thing for us.”
