Next Up: Man Utd (a)

Liverpool are rocking. Four goals against Real Madrid, a five-nil aggregate victory, and a performance that sent shivers out to the rest of Europe. Fantastic result.

And now it’s time to continue that form in the Premier League and the crunch visit to Old Trafford which could either put Liverpool faintly back in the title race with victory, or end all hopes with draw or defeat.

The Reds have few injury worries following the return of Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa in midweek.

Xabi Alonso and Fabio Aurelio are expected to have shaken off a slight knocks they picked up during the 4-0 win over Real Madrid, but Daniel Agger and Philipp Degen remain sidelined.

Liverpool currently sit third in the league, seven points behind United having played a game more, defeat will end any lingering title hopes and almost guarantee United their record equalling 18th title.

This fixture last season ended in embaressment for Benitez’s side, outclassed 3-0 after Javier Mascherano’s dismissal in the first half. Interestingly, the team that started at Old Trafford last March was exactly the side which demolished Real Madrid this week and could start again this Saturday.
