Terry fears Wednesday night

Chelsea and England captain John Terry admits he is ‘œdreading’ Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield because of the form of Steven Gerrard.

Terry was famously reduced to tears when the Reds dumped the Blues out of the 2005 European Cup at the semi-final stage with a second leg 1-0 victory at Anfield thanks to a Luis Garcia goal.

Ahead of Wednesday’s game, Terry admitted his fear of the irresistible form Reds captain Gerrard has shown this season. He said, “He’s one of the best players in the world, that’s for sure. He’s in great form at the minute. I’m sort of dreading going there to play him because he is different class.

“With the backbone Liverpool have got ‘“ Pepe Reina, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres ‘“ what a spine that is! And Gerrard is the heartbeat of the team just like Frank Lampard is with Chelsea. It’s going to be a big clash and we’re thoroughly looking forward to it.”

Liverpool vs Chelsea kicks off at 7.45pm at Anfield on Wednesday (April 8) night.
