Agger deal done

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2014.

The Dane ended months of uncertainty over his future by commiting to the Reds, with Serie A giants AC Milan thought to have been chasing his signature too.

Both manager Rafa Benitez and Agger revealed yesterday that new deal was close and today Benitez confirmed the deal has gone through.

He said, “This is extremely good news for Liverpool moving forward and demonstrates our intention to build on the progress we have already made this season.

“Daniel is still young, but with great quality and will be a very important player for us in the years ahead.

“I’m delighted we’ve secured his future at Anfield.”
