Kuyt backs Reds to remerge stronger

Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt has backed the team to push Premier League Champions, Manchester United, even further next season after narrowly missing out on a title triumph this campaign.

United’s goalless draw at home to Arsenal yesterday was enough to secure their 18th league title, equalling Liverpool’s record set in 1990.

But Kuyt says the Reds are in a fine position to make sure league title number 19 belongs to Merseyside in the 2009/10 campaign.

The Dutchman told Sky Sports, “It’s a really good situation for the club that a few players have signed, like Stevie and Daniel Agger, and we already have a really good team.

“I am really pleased to see that most of the players are staying and if we can keep this team I think we can give an even harder push next season.”
