Masch cools exit talk

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has rubbished recent speculation linking him with a move away from Anfield this summer.

Confusing quotes from Mascherano prompted a surge in rumours suggesting the Argentine international would be part of a big money deal to Manchester City or Barcelona, but he has jumped quickly to dismiss the reports.

“I still have three years on my contract with Liverpool and I am happy there,” he said.

“I am comfortable and thinking only of Liverpool. I don’t know anything about an approach from Barcelona or any other club.”

Yesterday Mascherano also told an Argentine radio station that he would love to see his international teammate Carlos Tevez at Anfield next season.

“I hope we can count on him because of the type of player Carlos is, he would be great for us,’ he continued.

“It will be a tough fight because so many clubs are interested in him.”
