Skrtel: Forget Utd, we’ve got a job to do

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has urged his teammates and fans not to think too much about what Manchester Utd are doing in the final games of the season, and instead concentrate on winning the Reds’ final three games.

Rafa Benitez’s men are currently three points behind Utd ‘“ who also have a game in hand. So to win the Premier League, realistically they must win all three remaining games and hope Utd slip up.

But Skrtel has warned players not to get too distracted by United’s results and focus on the task in hand ‘“ getting nine points from three games, starting tomorrow at West Ham.

The Slovakian international told the club’s official magazine, “We are playing well at the moment because we are working hard every day in training, we have good players, a very good manager and we have belief in ourselves.

“United are still the favourites. They are at the top of the table so they should be.

“We have been able to get ourselves into a position where we can take advantage if they have more slip-ups. There are only a few games remaining and they have the advantage, but we must make sure that we are winning our games in case they make a mistake.

“In football, especially in England, any team can cause a surprise, so when you are not 100 per cent concentrated on your opponent slip-ups can happen. Hopefully, it happens to United because we are only thinking about us.”
