Utd extend lead to 6pts

Manchester United today extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points, ahead of second-place Liverpool.

United beat relegation-strucken Middlesbrough 0-2 at the Riverside Stadium thanks to goals from Ryan Giggs and Ji-Sung Park either side of half-time.

The result means that with four games of the league season remaining, Liverpool are six points behind United and level on games.

The Reds host Newcastle United tomorrow afternoon at Anfield, before visits to West Ham (9 May) and West Brom (17 May), ending the season at home to Spurs on May 24th.

United meanwhile have Champions League commitments with a clash against Arsenal this Tuesday at the Emirates in mind, Man City and Arsenal at home and Wigan and Hull away before the season’s out.
