Benayoun set to pledge future

Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun looks set to put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield this week, confirming the Israeli international is a part of manager Rafa Benitez’s future plans.

Benayoun’s future had been up in the air this summer with the Reds linked with several world class midfielders and other clubs linked with a move for the former West Ham player.

But after a dazzling second half of the season in the first team, Benayoun looks to have given Benitez enough proof that he deserves to be given more opportunity in Liverpool’s pursuit of the Premier League title next season.

Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt have all signed new deals since the end of the 2008/09 campaign, with youngsters Jay Spearing and Stephen Darby set to follow suit this week too.
