Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has joined Spanish side Real Zaragoza on a Bosman free transfer.
The former Notts County, Arsenal, Leeds and Birmingham midfielder was available after being released by Liverpool when his contract expired.
He spent the last part of his Liverpool career on loan at Portsmouth after refusing a move in the January transfer window.
Back in January AC Milan and Real Madrid were rumoured to be interested in the Englishman, who arrived at Anfield for £6.7m in 2006. He made 55 appearances for the club, his best performance being in the 2007 Champions League final.
Zaragoza were promoted to La Liga last season, Pennant is said to have turned down offers from Stoke and Portsmouth to sign for the Spanish outfit.
