Former Liverpool wing-back Vegard Heggem has spoken of his delight at the Reds’ trip to Norway to play FC Lyn in Oslo tonight.
Rafa Benitez takes his men to the Norweigan capital for their penultamate pre-season friendly, with the new Premier League campaign kicking off in just over a week.
Heggem, now 34, played for Liverpool between 1998 and 2003 before being forced to retire from football early through injury.
Ahead of tonight’s match, which kicks off at 6pm UK time, he told the club’s official web site, “Liverpool have a huge following in this country so I think it’s great that the club have included Norway in their pre-season schedule. I think the team will be rewarded with a really good atmosphere at the match.
“I haven’t watched any of the pre-season games so far, but have read the reports. It was a disappointing performance and result against Espanyol, but I hope the team will get in a couple of good displays in the last two friendlies to build some confidence.”
