Next Up: Aston Villa (h)

Liverpool continue their Premier League campaign with the visit of Aston Villa to Anfield on Monday night.

Liverpool got their season back on track with a resounding 4-0 victory on Wednesday night over Stoke City following the opening day 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.

Aston Villa lost their first game of the season at home to Wigan and looked unorganised and below-part following the departure of their captain, Gareth Barry, to Manchester City this summer.

Liverpool have Alberto Aquilani and Fabio Aurelio ruled out with long-term injuries, but Martin Skrtel could return after he was forced to miss Wednesday’s clash against Stoke with a cracked jaw.

This fixture last season saw Liverpool cruise to an impressive 5-0 victory over Martin O’Neil’s men with Steven Gerrard scoring a hat-trick back in March.
