Skrtel out for two weeks

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow with the news that defender Martin Skrtel will miss two weeks of action with a cracked jaw.

Skrtel collided with Jamie Carragher during the first half of the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon and was later substituted in agony.

The Slovaian international’s agent, Karol Csonto confirmed to SITA, “His jaw is not broken, just heavily cracked.

“According to the doctors, Martin should be back in action within two weeks and he should be wearing a special mask.

“I hope that they will find or create a new one for him.”

This latest setback could prove to be a defensive headache for Rafa Benitez, who has Daniel Agger sidelined with a back injury and Jamie Carragher also wounded from Sunday’s game.

Liverpool next face Stoke City in the Premier League at Anfield on Wednesday night.
