Benayoun enjoying free role

Yossi Benayoun says he feels he can achieve more in the free role he was given during Saturday’s Premier League victory over Burnley at Anfield.

The Liverpool winger bagged a hat-trick as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners to claim their third victory of the season.

Benayoun explained, “I started on the right but Rafa told me to move around and try and get in between the lines. Every time I did that I found space so I could turn and go forward.

“I was lucky because the rest of the team provided me with good passes to score. It was the perfect day for me.”

Liverpool next face West Ham at Upton Park in the Premier League this Saturday after the midweek visit of Debreceni to Anfield in the Champions League.

Benayoun hopes, after a rocky start to the season, the Reds have got back to their winning ways properly in time for the trip to his former club.

He added, “We didn’t start the season too well. We didn’t expect to lose two matches so early on, but I think the international break came at the right time for us.

“We came back stronger and hopefully we will now go on a winning run and boost our confidence even more.”
