Liverpool vs Fiorentina

After crushing Hull City 6-1 in the Premier League at Anfield, Liverpool travel to the picturesque Italian city of Florence (via Pisa airport, in case you’re planning the trip) for their second Champions League game of the season.

The Reds are in fine form right now, after claiming their sixth consecutive victory against Hull and will have Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in mind going into this.

Liverpool of course beat Hungarians Debrecen 1-0 in the opening round of fixtures and top the group, with Fiorentina losing 1-0 at Lyon on the same night.

Javier Mascherano misses the game with a hamstring strain picked up in training at the weekend, and there are doubts over the availability of Yossi Benayoun, who had a knock to the leg against Hull.

Alberto Aquilani, Nabil El Zahr and Daniel Agger remain sidelined through injury whilst Ryan Babel’s two goals against Hull will be his claim for a start in this game.

Kick-off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi tonight is 7.45pm.
