Reds absent in slow deadline day

Liverpool were involved in no transfer activity on the final day of the summer transfer window, which didn’t have much action across the whole of the Premier League.

After confirming the loan deal to send disgraceful French goalkeeper Charles Itandje to Kavala FC yesterday, there were no further comings or goings as the transfer window closed today.

This means that Rafa Benitez’s only additions to his squad this summer have been that of Glen Johnson, Alberto Aquilani and Sotirios Kyrgiakos, costing a total of £37million.

The sales of Adam Hammill, Jermaine Pennant, Jack Hobbs, Sami Hyypia, Sebastien Leto, Paul Anderson, Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso generated £41.65million.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, today’s transfer deadline deals were:
In: Aston Villa (J Collins), Birmingham (Tainio), Bolton (Klasnic), Burnley (Nugent), Everton (Heitinga), Fulham (Elm), Hull (Sonko), Portsmouth (Ben-Haim*, Williamson, Yebda), Stoke (D Collins), Tottenham (Kranjcar)

Out: Manchester City (Ben-Haim*), Portsmouth (Kranjcar, Nugent), Stoke (Sonko), Sunderland (D Collins, C Edwards, G Leadbitter, T Tainio), West Ham (J Collins)

* subject to international clearance.

The transfer window officially closes at midnight tonight.
