Line-up vs Sunderland: Agger and Spearing start

Daniel Agger makes his long awaited return to football today as Liverpool take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League.

Agger completed 180 minutes of football over the international break for Denmark and makes his first apperance for the Reds this season alongside Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel.

With Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres out injured, there’s also starting places for Jay Spearing and Ryan Babel.

Former Reds winger Bolo Zenden starts on the bench for the Black Cats today.

Kick-off at Sunderland is 3pm.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Agger, Aurelio, Benayoun, Kuyt, Babel, Lucas, Carragher (C), Spearing, Skrtel. Subs: Cavalieri, Voronin, Riera, Mascherano, Insua, Ngog, Kelly.

Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, McCartney, Turner, Ferdinand, Reid, Malbranque, Cana (C), Cattermole, Bent, Jones. Subs: Fulop, Nosworthy, Da Silva, Henderson, Zenden, Campbell, Healy.
