Liverpool look to bounce back from two straight Premier League defeats and also get their Champions League campaign back on track after a 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina in Italy two weeks ago.
They currently sit third in Champions League Group E. Lyon sit top of the group having won both of their opening two games against Fiorentina and Debrecen.
Steven Gerrard returns for Liverpool after sitting out of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland with a groin injury.
Fernando Torres however hasn’t recovered from his knock picked up whilst on international duty for Spain last week and will miss tonight’s clash.
The Reds will also be without Albert Riera, who strained his hamstring during training at the weekend. The Spaniard could also miss Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester Utd at Anfield.
Alberto Aquilani remains sidelined, but could make his return to action with the Reserves on Wednesday night.
