Sammy Lee orders “no international hangover”

Liverpool assistant boss Sammy Lee says the club can’t afford to dwell on the current international break when the Premier League resumes on Saturday.

The Reds travel to Sunderland as they look to get their season back on track following the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea before the internationals started.

And Lee says the players returning from international duty must immediately switch their minds to Saturday’s game at the Stadium of Light.

He told the club’s official web site, “The group that have been here at Melwood during the international break have been working very hard with a view to the Sunderland game, and when the other players return later this week, we have to make sure they kick in and are focused on a very important game.

“There is no window for us to have any kind of international hangover – we don’t have that luxury.”
