Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will miss tomorrow’s Champions League encounter with Lyon at Anfield after failing to recover from a muscle injury picked up whilst on international duty with Spain last week.
Steven Gerrard however is fit to play after recovering from a groin injury that kept him out of England’s 3-0 victory over Belarus last Wednesday and Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez confirmed, “Gerrard is now fine, he has trained normally today and will play against Lyon.
“But Fernando is not close enough to fitness to be considered. He will miss this one but I hope he will be OK to play against Manchester United next weekend.”
Liverpool vs Lyon gets underway at 7.45pm tomorrow (Tuesday 20th October).
