Liverpool and Fulham are the only English teams left in European football this season, and the two come head to head in the Premier League fresh off the back of midweek victories over Benfica and Wolfsburg respectively.
The Reds know that victory is essential over Roy Hodgson’s men if they are to cling onto that faint glimmer of home that they may finish fourth in the final league standings. Rivals for fourth place Manchester City are at home to Birmingham (kick-off 4pm).
Rafa Benitez can welcome back Ryan Babel from European suspension if he so wishes, and Maxi Rodriguez after the Argentinean was cup-tied to face Benfica on Thursday.
Emiliano Insua is doubtful though with an injury he picked up in the draw against Birmingham last week. Fernando Torres is expected to be fit.
Fulham are expected to field a weakened team, with their priorities now firmly in the Europa League. Former Red Danny Murphy should captain the Londoners though.
Kick-off at Anfield is 3pm.
