Rafa on verge of Inter appointment

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is on the verge of being appointed Inter Milan manager, according to reports in the Italian press this weekend.

Inter president Massimo Moratti is reported to have given the all-clear to appoint Benitez and a deal could be agreed within the next 48 hours.

Inter defender Walter Samuel said “Benitez is a Coach with real personality, just what we needed after Jose Mourinho. He certainly knows how to work within a high-pressure locker room environment.”

Reports in Gazzetto dello Sport also suggest Benitez will look to take Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano to Italy with him.

Mascherano himself is quoted saying “Benitez will really fit in with Italian football, as he is a very tactical person who studies the games carefully.

“Will I follow him to Milan? I don’t know anything about my future yet. I can only say that I spent some wonderful years with him and his style of football suits me perfectly.”
