Cole aims for league title

New Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole says he knows that it’s the Premier League trophy Liverpool fans are so desperate for the club to get their hands on, and has targeted the league in his first major press conference for the club.

Cole was unveiled at Anfield today, shortly before a squad of players fly out to Macedonia for their Europa League third qualifying round first leg against FK Rabotnicki on Thursday.

“We just want to get going now,” said Cole. “The main thing would be to win the title – that’s what the man on the street wants – but we’ll just try to keep building and take it slowly.

“Everything’s now in place for a successful spell at this club. I want to be at the start of something fresh and new. It’s something I’m very excited about.

“It’s a new chapter. We’ve got the new manager, new backroom staff and I’m a small part of it. I want to help this team and help us to achieve something.”
