Kuyt apologises for Blackpool disappointment

Dirk Kuyt has made a public apology to Liverpool fans for the way the team performed in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Blackpool in the Premier League.

The defeat leave the Reds 18th in the league table, perched in the bottom three, with just 6 points from their opening 7 games of the season.

Yesterday’s performance was nothing less than shocking and Kuyt was the first to offer his regrets.

Kuyt told the Liverpool Echo, “It was really, really disappointing, probably one of the hardest defeats I’ve had to take since I’ve been here and we’re sorry for the fans. We had all worked so hard in training and we thought this was a good opportunity to try and climb the table but unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way.”

“It’s frustrating that we have got the international break now because we will have this result hanging over us and everyone in the dressing room wants to put it behind us as quickly as possible.

He added, “We know this result has not helped but we just have to try and focus on the spirit we showed in the second half. We have got to make sure we show it in the next game.”

Liverpool next play Everton at Goodison Park after the international break on October 17th.
