The two Liverpool supporters groups invited to meet new owner John Henry have spoken of their positive initial meetings.
Save Liverpool FC and Spirit of Shankly both wanted to express their concerns at the way the club was run and fans disenfranchised during the regime of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Henry met with representatives from the groups over the weekend and Monday, with encouraging feedback.
Following the meeting, a statement from Save Liverpool FC read, “Mr Henry and one of his aides welcomed three members of SaveLFC for an hour-long chat, and came across as a thoroughly down to earth and decent man.
“The meeting was very informal, friendly and informative, and we came to realise that Mr Henry is a quiet man who likes to listen – a stark contrast to our former owners.
“It was great to hear Mr Henry say that he’s keen to speak to other fans’ groups. That’s something we’d all agree is long overdue, and he seems a man who will truly listen to us, the fans.”
Meanwhile the Spirit of Shankly were also happy to meet with Henry. Their statement reads, “The meeting gave us encouragement that we as supporters will be listened to, and that the new owners recognise the task ahead.”
