Blackpool have rejected a £4m bid from Liverpool for midfielder Charlie Adam, reports Sky Sports News this evening.

Adam, 25, has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Birmingham in recent weeks.

The Scottish midfielder, signed by the Seasiders for just £500,000, has been in impressive form after guiding Ian Holloway’s side to the Premier League last season.

Commenting on speculation this week Adam admitted he wishes to play at the highest level possible. “It really isn’t difficult to ignore all the talk. The bottom line is that everybody knows I want to play at the highest level,” he said.

The odds on Adam joining Liverpool have been cut to an incredible 1/10 with SkyBet.

Liverpool are expected to raise their bid to £5m.
