Dalglish relishing Anfield homecoming

Returning Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is looking forward to sitting in the Anfield dugout as Reds boss for the first time in 20 years when Liverpool play Everton this Sunday.

It’s flag day at Anfield this Sunday as a sell-out stadium will welcome the return of the King, following Roy Hodgson’s exit from the club last week.

Dalglish spoke today of how he expects it to be an emotional occasion, and hopes the homecoming results in a much-needed Liverpool victory.

He said, “I’m looking forward to the game, obviously there’s a big story about coming back to Anfield for the first game which is going to be fantastic for myself.

“It will probably be very emotional as well to stand in front of the punters.

“But it’s more important how we go about it with the players and how they adapt as well.

“Sunday is a day that I’ll remember for a long, long time, going back in.”

Liverpool vs Everton gets underway at 2.05pm on Sunday.
