Liverpool 2-1 Bolton

Match Summary

Joe Cole grabbed a very late and very precious winner for Liverpool as they came from a goal behind to beat Bolton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder came off the bench to bundle the ball into the net in injury time at the end of the second half after a fine strike by Fernando Torres had earlier cancelled out Mark Davies’ opener for Bolton.

It wasn’t a pretty performance by any means, but a vital win for the Reds which relieves the pressure a little on under-fire manager Roy Hodgson.

What is worrying however, is that the game was attended by only 35,400 – a sign of the times that fans are unprepared to spend the money to watch Liverpool’s unimpressive form this season.

The result moves Liverpool up to 9th in the Premier League with the potential of going sixth if they win their two games in hand. Next up is Hodgson’s old club, Blackburn, away on Wednesday night.
