Luis Suarez has told Ajax TV that he is joining a “beautiful club” when he finally completes his £23million move to Anfield.
Suarez is expected to put pen to paper on a large deal on Merseyside in the next 24 hours – with some speculating Liverpool are offering him a massive six year contract.
It is thought Liverpool’s new owners see Suarez and his large transfer fee as a long-term investment and intend to get as much out of the deal, and the player, as possible.
The Uruguayan international striker spoke of his excitment of the move.
He said, “I am happy. It is important for anybody to go to such a big club. It is a great opportunity for me.
“It is a beautiful club. Everybody wants to play there. They always play Champions League or Europa League and belong to the top four clubs in the Premier League.”
With the fee agreed between Ajax and Liverpool on Friday and Suarez’s medical completed on Saturday, the deal should be concluded shortly. But Suarez admits it’s been a long process.
He added, “It has been difficult, a lot of negotiation. Difficult for me as it concerns my future. But on Saturday I heard that everything was agreed.”
Suarez was at Melwood and met his new team mates on Sunday morning.
