Ayre confirms Anfield won’t be branded

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre says the club are not looking to consider selling naming rights to the current Anfield stadium, however it is an active interest should the Reds move to a new stadium.

Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, are weighing up the options of either redeveloping Anfield, or moving to a new stadium at nearby Stanley Park.

Ayre told the Soccerex football business conference in Manchester yesterday that the club were looking to sell naming rights, but later confirmed this would only be for a new stadium.

“We are actively looking for a naming partner if we were to move to a new ground, but that clearly does not apply if we decide to remain at Anfield,” he explained.

“No final decision has yet been made, but a considerable amount of work continues on analysing the options open to us, be that a refurbishment of our existing home or the move to a completely new LFC Stadium in Stanley Park.”
