Gerrard out of Braga trip

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has not travelled with the squad for their Europa League last 16 tie with Portuguese side FC Braga.

Gerrard remains on Merseyside alongside Luis Suarez (ineligible) and youngsters Martin Kelly and Jonjo Shelvey (injured).

The 30 year old midfielder played the full 90 minutes against Man United on Sunday despite reports that his groin injury had recurred in training last week. The club will reveal details of the extent of the injury later today after a medical assessment.

Striker Andy Carroll travels and will make his European debut – although most likely as a substitute.

Meanwhile, Spanish full back Emmanuel Mendy is included in the squad.

LFC Squad: Jones, Johnson, Meireles, Carroll, Cole, Pacheco, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Kuyt, Lucas, Wilson, Carragher, Ngog, Reina, Spearing, Poulsen, Skrtel, Hansen, Gulacsi, Flanagan, Mendy.
