Club “feeling more like Liverpool”

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says the changes behind the scenes over the last 8 months are transforming the club back into Liverpool.

The Reds were in turmoil after a diasterous start to the season on the pitch and a lengthly battle to remove owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

But the sale of the club to Fenway Sports Group, the return of Kenny Dalglish as permanent manager, promotion of Ian Ayre to Managing Director, appointment of Damien Comolli as Director of Football and bringing Steve Clarke into the coaching team has breathed new life and optimism into the club and supporters.

“Now the structure of the club from top to bottom seems to be right,” Gerrard told the club’s official magazine, LFC Weekly.

“The new owners are making the right decisions. They’ve put Damien as a director of football, which is a good appointment. Ian Ayre is the new MD – again positive.

“And Kenny’s back too and he’s Liverpool through and through. It feels more like a solid structure and it feels more like Liverpool.

“People are only talking about the new team now, which is the way it should be for me.”
