Liverpool overcame Exeter 3-1 on Wednesday night at St James’ Park to seal a place in the third round of the Carling Cup.
A strong Liverpool side beat the League Two outfit thanks to goals from Luis Suarez, Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll. A late Daniel Nardiello penalty for the hosts was the only blemish on the Reds’ victory.
