Melwood Today: Aurelio, NextGen & Suarez Just Can’t Get Enough

It’s been a successful weekend for most of our players off on International duty, from Martin Kelly’s stunning strike as England’s U21’s maintained their 100% start to their European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign, to Craig Bellamy scoring his 19th International goal for Wales against Norway.

But the main story this weekend was the scintillating Luis Suarez scoring four goals for Uruguay as they beat Chile 4-0 on Friday night in the third round of the South American qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

Speaking after Uruguay’s victory, Suarez spoke of how he’s already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool after his five year contract deal ends….

“I’ve just started a phase of my career which I always dreamed about and wanted to do, which is to play for Liverpool. I have five years left on my contract and I think beyond that, I’m already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool.

“It’s a club I like. I feel very good about being here, about being in the city. I feel very pleased. It would be difficult to match the atmosphere, hunger for success and glory that this club has at another team.”

Fabio Aurelio on his return to Match Fitness…

aurelio2Meanwhile, Fabio Aurelio spoke of his return to fitness after his late pre-season injury. The 32 year old has only appeared in our friendly against Rangers at Ibrox on October 18 so far this season and speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv, Aurelio spoke of his match fitness and his desire to play for Kenny…

I feel stronger. Obviously when you don’t have many minutes on the pitch your match fitness is not the same, but I feel very comfortable in training. I am at a big club and I need to be ready to take an opportunity.

As always, all I ask is to be fit, available, enjoy training sessions and make the best of it. Then it is in the hands of Kenny to decide whether he wants to use me or not. My desire is to be always available.”
