He’s made to wear that No 7
Chris Bascombe has published a fascinating interview with Craig Bellamy over on the Telegraph today where Bellamy states how he’s savouring his second coming at Anfield and how he finds life and the style of football much more accommodating under Kenny Dalglish. He also hailed the impact Luis Suarez has made at Anfield since he’s joined…
“He’s made to wear that No 7 shirt.” claims Bellamy. “Liverpool has always had great players from your Liddell to your Hunt then up to your Dalglish. Suárez is what Liverpool represents. He might have played for Ajax and other clubs and I am sure he’ll be talked about with the Barcelona and Real Madrid of this world but he’ll never get the support he gets here. He’s made to wear that No 7 shirt.”
Eccleston returns to Liverpool
Nathan Eccleston has returned to Liverpool following his loan spell at Rochdale. Eccleston joined Dale on October 20 for a month, and made seven appearances during his time at the League 1 club. The 20-year-old forward marked his Dale debut with a goal in their 3-1 defeat to Exeter last month, but he failed to find the net again in 6 subsequent appearances.
Joe Cole’s Liverpool Regrets
BBC’s Friday Football Focus saw an interesting exclusive interview with Joe Cole on how he’s settling in at French club Ligue 1 club Lille and how he would not have joined the Merseyside club were he able to go back in time. He says he “didn’t fit” but does not rule out returning to Anfield and says there is “no doubt” he is good enough to play in the Liverpool first team. A Blossoming Midfield Partnership!
Meanwhile, Lucas Leiva, speaking to the official Liverpool website, has spoke of his newly formed midfield partnership with Charlie Adam so far this season after both players earned plaudits for their formidable partnership in the midfield during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea
“Charlie is an offensive player and you could see his quality with the pass he gave for Glen to score. There are a lot of new players in this team and it does take a bit of time for everyone to get used to each other’s style of play.
“I am really enjoying playing alongside Charlie. I try to give him the licence to go forward and make a key pass. When we need to defend he is always back to help me and the more games we play together, the better we will be.
Charlie Adam was the run away Chelsea man of the match in our MelwoodToday Online poll with 50% of your votes… Glen Johnson tallied 13% of your votes.
