Keita to Liverpool?

In today’s Merseyside Rumour Mill, the Daily Mail have reported that Liverpool have made an enquiry about Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita. Keita is a versatile midfielder and can operate as both a central or defensive midfielder.

The 31 year old Mali International has only started 5 of the Catalan side’s 11 La Liga games this season and is out of contract in the summer.

Houghton Impressed By Downing

reinaMeanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton who played 202 games for Liverpool scoring 38 goals has been impressed with Stewart Dowing’s performances so far this season for Liverpool… Downing has made 12 appearances for LFC since his Summer move from Aston Villa and speaking to TalkSport, Houghton spoke of how he’s been impressed with Downing’s all round ability…

” He’s got a lot more to his game than I thought he had. He’s linked with well with Jose Enrique and Luis Suarez. It’s a work in progress, [but] Downing’s end product needs to be better. He’s been in some fantastic positions and that final cross or shot has let him down a bit, and he needs to score more goals.”

Houghton also spoke of Liverpool’s Top 4 chances this season….

“I honestly think Liverpool aren’t far away from putting a good run of results together consistently,” he continued. “They’ll be there or thereabouts for fourth place. People are always too quick to say Liverpool should be doing a bit better but the games that they’ve drawn they could have easily won. They weren’t games that they were going to lose. In most of them they dominated the match and it’s just the finishing that let them down.”

reinaSuarez Targets Improvement

Although scoring 7 goals in 14 matches for Liverpool so far this season, speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv, Luis Suárez admitted there is greater improvement to come from both him and the rest of the Liverpool team…

“As a striker I am always going to get plenty of chances and I could probably have converted one or two more. I also know strikers go through periods where they are trying so hard to score and they don’t always go in. The main thing is I am playing well and the whole team is playing in the right manner.”

Borrell on Liverpool Reserves Goalless Draw
