Wednesday’s LFC Transfer Gossip: Ghanian talks begin, Defoe latest, Dann rumours resurface

Ghanaian under-20 international midfielder Mumuni Abubakar has completed a trial at Liverpool, and now hopes the club will offer him a permanent deal.

ESPN report that Abubakar, who plays for New Edubiase United, is 18 years old and is regarded as a hot prospect in African football.

“They were impressed by my performances during training and the match that I played,” said Abubakar. “The technical team like my style of play, so hopefully they will sign me.

“When you go to trials, they talk to your agent and not you the player. Liverpool is talking with my agent now. They’re impressed with my performances so we should get a favourable response.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has put a stumbling block on any potential move Liverpool may be wishing to make for England international striker Jermaine Defoe this January transfer window, report the Mirror.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Defoe, who is out of favour at White Hart Lane. However it is believed that Levy will now ask for £20million for Defoe, as he looks to sign Marseille forward Loic Remy.

And Liverpool have once again been linked with Blackburn Rovers defender Scott Dann.

The former England Under-21 international was first linked with a move to the Reds in the summer when he was still playing for relegated Birmingham City, before he completed a move to Ewood Park.

Dann could be available for around £6million and has been a regular for Rovers this season.
