Dalglish slams critics need an “intelligence check”

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has blasted critics of his side, saying some people should take an “intelligence check”.

The Reds go into an FA Cup quarter-final clash at home to Stoke City today off the back of winning the Carling Cup at Wembley last month, although they sit seventh in the Premier League and have one of the worst recent form records in the league.

But Dalglish feels the criticism of his team is unfair, and cites the progress they’ve made in the last year.

“I think people should take an intelligence check. It’s not true that you should only look at the league table,” he said ahead of today’s 4pm kick-off at Anfield.

“Some people will look at that but there’s a bigger picture than that.

“There are two other competitions which people say are treated with disrespect.

“Judging by league positions is also disrespectful. For us, all we have said is we want to move the club forward.

“On the pitch I think it’s moved forward. We will just keep going and believe in what we are doing.”

Liverpool vs Stoke gets underway at 4pm at Anfield and it’s live on ITV1.
