LFC face competition for Sigurdsson signature

Liverpool face competition from Man United and Tottenham in their bid to bring Icelandic midfielder Glyfi Sigurdsson to Anfield.

The 22 year old has been widely reported to be close to making a move to follow Brendan Rodgers to Merseyside, but Icelandic press now report that he will explore what other clubs have to offer before making a decision.

Contrary to what has been reported in the British press, the Icelandic website fotbolti.net say Sigurdsson has not decided to join Liverpool yet.

Tottenham and United are both interested in the player – despite the former currently being without a manager following Harry Redknapp’s dismissal.

Sigurdsson’s current club Hoffenheim have reportedly given him a deadline of June 30 to finalise his future.

Meanwhile, new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has said he would like to keep the player at the Liberty Stadium “I would like him to stay – he did very well here – but you have to look at a lot of things.”
