Youngster Raheem Sterling is also handed a starting place with a near-full Anfield expected for this game, less than a week before the start of the new Premier League season.
The Reds defence is makeshift, with Martin Kelly, Jamie Carragher and Sebastian Coates starting in places where Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel will be expected to fill next week.
