Suarez signs Liverpool contract extension

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has signed a new contract at the club, dispelling reports linking him with a move away from Anfield this summer.

The Uruguayan’s current contract still had four years left to run but he has been rewarded with an improved deal after an impressive first 18 months at the club since signing in January 2011.

The length of the new deal has not been detailed, just that it is a “long-term contract”.

Upon signing the new deal, Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com: “To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.”

Suarez arrived back on Merseyside this week and started pre-season training on Monday following Uruguay’s exit from the Olympic Football.
