Up to 8 departures at Anfield as deadline draws near

Please note, this article is from Thursday afternoon. Spearing, Carroll and Adam’s departures are all now confirmed.

Liverpool could offload up to eight players in the final hours of the transfer window.

The first of those is midfielder Jay Spearing, who, according to reports this afternoon, will join recently relegated Bolton Wanderers on loan until January.

The most high-profile remains the potential loan or sale of Andy Carroll. Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that the England forward will be sold if the right deal is offered for him – although Carroll is reluctant to leave. That could go to the wire.

Charlie Adam appears to be on the verge of a move to Stoke, paving the way for Liverpool to bid for Fulham forward Clint Dempsey.

Joe Cole is one player Liverpool would like to get off the wage list, but finding a club willing to take on his wage demands could be tricky.

Further departures are expected with young forwards Dani Pacheco and Nathan Eccleston surplus to requirements.

Defender Danny Wilson is expected to head out on loan, although perhaps not before the window closes, while back-up keeper Alexander Doni‘s future is unclear with the Brazilian absent this summer.
